What we pay

Our price list page shows every rate we pay. It is the same list your quote uses. There is no separate sheet to ask for, and no better price for people who ask. Each machine has one set price. Supplies are priced per item, based on the brand, so the list shows a rate for each item rather than a total. A quote takes about two minutes. Your price is then held for 14 days.

For machines, yes. Your offer already includes everything you told us. We pay a set price for each model. We do not lower it for scratches, hours used, or how old it is. One thing cuts the price in half, and that is the machine being broken. Broken means any one of three things: it does not turn on, you do not have its power supply, or the motor is past its rated life. Any one of them halves the price. Two or three of them together still only halve it — nothing adds up on top of anything else. If we find a problem you did not tell us about, that machine is paid half. The only thing worth nothing at all is equipment we cannot resell safely: active mold or pests. Supplies are the one part settled when your box arrives. We have to see that each one is still sealed before we can pay for it. So a quote you run today covers your machines only.

A machine without its power supply counts as broken, and a broken machine is paid half. The power supply is the cord and the power brick it plugs into. Nothing else you leave out matters: not the case, not the manual, not the water chamber. If you find it before you ship, tell us and we will put the full price back. That is the only reduction there is. It does not go lower, and a machine that is broken in more than one way — no power supply and it will not turn on — is still paid half, not a quarter.

Yes. A broken machine is worth half its published price, and that is the only question we ask about a machine. Broken means any one of three things: it does not turn on, you do not have its power supply, or the motor is past its rated life. Any one of them halves the price. All three at once still halves it — half is as low as a machine we buy ever goes. We do not lower the price for anything else. Not scratches, not hours used, not how old it is, not smoke. You do not need to look up any hours for the motor. A ResMed machine past its motor life shows “Motor life exceeded” on the screen every time you turn it on, and the message keeps coming back. If you have never seen it, your machine is not past it. We check it here either way, and an honest answer never costs you anything.

Getting paid

We pay by check, Venmo or PayPal. Payment goes out within 2 business days of your box arriving. You pick how you want to be paid when you accept your offer. Checks go to the address on that offer. Start to finish, most people are paid in about a week. You get your label the same business day you accept. USPS usually takes a few days to bring us the box. Our 2 business days begin when we scan it in. The part we cannot control is how long USPS takes, so track your box if it seems slow. A check also has to reach you in the mail. Venmo and PayPal arrive the same day we send them.

Sending your box

We email you a prepaid, insured USPS label the same business day you accept. There is nothing to pay at the counter. Empty the water chamber first. Wrap the machine in a towel or bubble wrap. Use any box that fits. Tape the label to the outside and drop it at any USPS location.

Yes. Call us, or reply to your confirmation email, and we will mail a printed label to the address on your offer. There is no charge. A printer should never be what stops you selling. Allow a few days for it to reach you. Your offer is held for 14 days. If the mail is slow and you are getting close to that date, tell us. We will extend your offer rather than start again. If you would rather not wait, most public libraries, UPS Stores and USPS counters will print an emailed label for you.

Yes, and it is the easiest way to do it. Every machine on your offer can go in the same box. Each one is paid its own price. Sealed supplies can go in too. Pack the machines so they cannot knock into each other. Each machine needs its own power supply in the box to earn the full price — one without it counts as broken and is paid half. One thing to avoid: do not use the same label twice. A label covers one box only. A second box sent with a copy of it can be returned to you, or charged to you. If your equipment will not fit in one box, tell us how many boxes you need. We will email a label for each.

The machine and its power supply. Those two earn the full price. Without the power supply the machine counts as broken and is paid half, and nothing else you add or leave out changes the figure. Add the water chamber if you still have it, along with any sealed supplies on your offer. DNQ supplies and accessories can go in the same box. They will not add to your payment, but we would rather recycle them than see them thrown away. Leave out anything opened or yellowed. Leave out any machine that is not on our buy list. We cannot buy those, cannot return them, and cannot be responsible for them once they arrive.

What qualifies

No. In the United States you need a prescription to buy this equipment, not to sell it. That check happens later, when the machine is resold. There is nothing for you to send us.

DNQ means does not qualify. It means we cannot pay for that item. It does not mean we do not want it. Filters, chin straps, headgear and bare mask frames are DNQ from every brand. Most supplies are DNQ unless they are ResMed, or Respironics, Fisher & Paykel, React or 3B. A DNQ item is worth $0 on your offer, and nothing else about your offer changes. You are welcome to put these in the box. This is not the same as the two things we ask you not to send: machines that are not on our buy list, and supplies that have been opened or have yellowed.

Yes, for supplies and accessories. Filters, chin straps, headgear, bare frames, odd cushions: put them in the box. There is no need to sort them out. We reuse or recycle whatever we cannot buy. They do not add to your payment, and we do not send them back. Two things are different, and we ask you to leave them at home. One is a machine that is not on our buy list. The other is any supply that has been opened, unsealed or has yellowed. We cannot buy either one. We cannot send it back, and we cannot be responsible for it once it reaches us. Two more things must never be shipped at all: equipment with active mold or pests, and equipment you do not own outright.

Yes, and it does not change what we pay. Cigarette and cigar smoke, pet hair, dust, years in an attic or garage, scuffs, and a machine that smells are all fine. The price is set by the model, not by the home it came from. Please do not clean it first. Nothing you do to it can raise the price, and cleaning products can get into the motor and cause damage that lowers it. There are only two things we cannot take: equipment with active mold or pests, which is a safety problem, and equipment you do not own outright.

Anything not on our buy list. That list is the whole answer, and it is on the price list page — ResMed machines, the Trilogy EVO, and a handful of respiratory devices including the CoughAssist T70, the myAirvo 2 and the VOCSN. The two we are asked about most are the React Health Luna G3 and the Philips DreamStation 2. We buy neither. The DreamStation 2 was not recalled. It is simply not on our list, and the same is true of the Luna G3. Also not on the list: RESmart 3B BMC, REMstar, System One, Respironics BiPAP S/T, M Series, Vpap 5 Series, iBreeze, Luna II and DeVilbiss IntelliPAP. Philips DreamStation, System One, and Trilogy 100 and 200 machines from the 2021 foam recall do not qualify either. The Trilogy EVO is a different machine, was not recalled, and is on our list. We do not buy oxygen concentrators of any brand. Please do not send us any of these. We cannot buy them, we cannot send them back, and we cannot be responsible for them once they arrive. If you are not sure about yours, send us a photo of the label before you pack it.

Two different things can rule a supply out. The first is what it is. Filters, chin straps, headgear, bare mask frames and P10 cushions do not qualify from any brand. Most supplies do not qualify unless they are ResMed, or Respironics, Fisher & Paykel, React or 3B. The second is what condition it is in. Everything must be sealed, unopened and in its original packaging. We cannot pay for anything marked NOT FOR RESALE, anything dirty or clearly used, anything that smells odd, or anything with yellowed, torn or damaged packaging. An opened mask is worth nothing to us, however good the brand. Please leave it out of the box. We cannot send it back, and we cannot be responsible for it once it is here. The first kind is fine to send anyway. A filter or chin strap costs you nothing to include, and we recycle it. The second kind is not.

Clear silicone and plastic slowly turn a light tea or amber color as they age. This happens whether or not the packet was ever opened. It is the material aging on the shelf, not a sign anyone used it. Cushions, nasal pillows and tubing show it first. The packaging can yellow too. The quickest way to check is to hold the item against a sheet of white paper in daylight. Next to true white, a yellowed item is easy to spot. On its own it can look fine. If you see any color, we cannot buy that item. Please leave it out of the box, because we cannot send it back. If it still looks clear and colorless, it counts.

A sealed Philips Respironics nasal cushion in its unopened factory packet. The silicone is clear and colourless.
Still clear — this counts
Two sealed Philips Respironics cushions in their unopened factory packets. Both have turned an even amber colour with age.
Yellowed — leave it out
